NOT FOR EATING
For each medium size turkey hen, you will need:
Pinecone, 6 to 7 inches long, 3 1/2 to 4 inches tall
2 sunflower seeds for eyes
Red felt
Yellow-orange felt for beak
8 corn shucks
Cotton stuffing for turkey
Thread and needle
Glue
Twist tie
Sucker stick
- Use patterns to cut 2 turkeys out of red felt and 2 beaks out of yellow-orange felt.
- Pin the two red felt turkeys together. Start stitching at the x. Stitch around and stop at the other x.
- Glue yellow-orange beaks and sunflower eyes on red felt.
- Stuff with cotton. Glue a sucker stick inside the neck, allowing it to extend out about 1 inch to glue to pinecone. Spread open the breast of turkey and glue.
- Cut corn shuck ends into feather shapes:
- Using a twist tie, tie 6 corn ends together for tail feathers. Glue into pinecone.
- Glue a separate corn shuck on each side of the tail feathers.
